Sled Threads – Defining your own style

I’ve been riding a cruiser for the last 5 years, a HD Road King to be exact. When I crossed over from sportbikes I realized I didn’t have to wear as much gear as I did on before. I did what everybody else did, bought a bunch of HD tees and kept it moving. Thing is, EVERYBODY does this, so we end up looking like poser clones.

In the biking world we customize our bikes to stand out from the crowd but we end up dressing like twins. Everybody wears a HD tee, Levis and harness or engineer boots. Everyone wears the same HD uniform. Don’t get me wrong I love HD everything, I drink the Kool-Aid, but I also want to stand out like my bike does. My motto is buy quality, well made stuff one time, so you won’t have to keep buying it over and over.

My recommendation is buy a good set of boots that are comfortable and will last more than a couple seasons. Forget what the norm is. I prefer American made work boots from Red Wing or Thorogood, these last forever and can be re-soled when they wear out. They also feel like sneakers, not some clunky cowboy boots — I’m from the city not the country.

For a jacket, I go with a classic black leather jacket. Nothing fancy with a ton of zippers looking like Michael Jackson out here. For denim I wear what I wear all the time, selvedge denim all day everyday. For gloves I like Iron & Resin’s Vanson collab gloves, they also have cool fleece crewnecks.

My go to T’s are my own brand Superior Worx, which I make with a light weight material keeping in mind we often layer up and want to strip down to a tee when we arrive somewhere, my flip bill trucker hat is also Superior Worx.

Dress differently and be as unique as your sled. For more gear check out superiorworx.com
